Repair Rundll32 Error on a Virus Infected PC

Bored of dealing with rundll32 errors but don’t wish to use registry cleaners? Try fixing it manually instead!! Although, make sure to be careful when restoring the rundll32.exe!

If you are reading this article, then you already are experiencing rundll32 errors. Rundll32.exe is a very important part of the Windows operating system. It is an application program that is used to launch DLL or the Dynamic Link Library files, because they cannot be launched by themselves. The problem with this operation is that rundll32.exe is known as a backdoor exposure. This means that it can be utilized by hackers to retrieve your personal data, for example your passwords. For this very reason it is very important to have a general antivirus and identity theft security established on your computer and also keep an eye on the rundll32.exe procedure. Rundll32.exe is always placed at WindowsSystem32Rundll.exe, so if you see two operations with the same name running from several locations, then there is a high chance that your computer is infected. It is also noted to cause many errors. If you are experiencing such errors, the first thing to do is find out which file is running rundll32. That is pretty simplified if you are on Windows Vista or Windows 7. You can do repair the problem manually but I would propose to let someone who knows around computers execute this. Because if something happens to the Rundll32.exe file, then your computer will not function at all.

All you need to do is open the Task Manager and enable the option that will let you view the full path of every procedure. Here is what you need to do:

1. Open the Task Manager
2. Go to the View Tab
3. You will see a list with checkboxes. Check the Command Line option.

Now you will be able to see the full path for each file running rundll32.exe and then see whether it is in the System32 directory or not. To see what precisely is leading the procedure, you need to hover your mouse pointer over the file name in inquiry. If it is not running in the System 32 folder, then immediately scan your computer with a good antivirus and antimalware program. Windows XP users will have to use a program called Process Explorer to get all the essential information, because XP Task Manager does not let you see the whole path. Process manager is a free Microsoft utility that does not need to be established. Just double click it on the .exe file to launch it. If you need to have your computer up and running as fast as possible, then you might want to consider this resource to fix rundll32 error instead.
